We went to Joe's office to have our blood drawn for the sequencing project.  I was worried they would have a hard time drawing Noah and Alexis's blood as they have smaller veins that tend to flatten out or shut down.  I was thrilled that they got Joe and Zach's blood on the first try!  Thank You, Lord!  I asked the phlebotomist to draw me next and have Noah and Alexis watch as I have no problem with needles.  Well, little did I know what a day it would prove to be!  Each one of the nurses tried to draw my blood with no success.  I then asked Noah and Alexis to go hang out with Zach, their older brother.  We proceeded several more times, but to no avail.  They brought Noah in and, after 3 attempts, got his 3 vials filled.  Alexis, while very anxious, did so much better than we imagined.  The 2 phlebotomists spent a lot of time with her, explaining what they were doing, how much blood they needed to get, etc.  They successfully filled her vials on the first attempt, praise God!! They headed back into my veins and, after the 12th attempt and getting different vials to fill, they were successful.  The vials are sent off to Baylor and now we move on to the family pedigree to correlate with the information we will find in the sequencing.  We are working on gathering as much information as possible to move forward in our understanding of this disease.
